To Help you make an informed decision when choosing a high school, TDSB schools host open houses and information nights for parents and grade 8 students each year. Open houses take place between October and January and are an opportunity to learn everything you need to know about our incredible variety of schools, programs and courses, (for a full list please see attachment below).

Each Grade 8 student and family is highly encouraged to attend open houses for your home high school and any other specialized or optional attendance programs you may be considering. It is important to be organized and plan visits in advance to avoid schedule conflicts. Open houses are an opportunity to find out specific program details, application requirements and deadlines. Remember, Grade 8 students can apply to a maximum of 2 specialized programs and 2 optional attendance schools within the TDSB.

Alternative high schools
The TDSB offers 22 alternative schools at the secondary level. Each school is a close-knit, highly engaged, diverse community that offers a fresh and unique approach to learning.
Alternative schools are places where students find their way through learning environments that vary widely and often include self-directed projects, experiential learning, business and entrepreneurial mentorship programs, strong co-op programs and credit recovery opportunities - all while earning OSSD credits.
Here you may find extraordinary art and word galleries, classrooms with comfy couches, and teachers mentoring their students. These are schools where students need a new way - to find their way.
